Desert Fuel is currently a team of eight, the leaders of Desert Fuel consist of Bryan McCoy, an electrical engineer, Jason McCoy, a mechanic and fabrication expert, Greg Childs, a Technical Consultant, Janet McCoy, a business analyst, Jason Swanson, a mechanical and thermal engineer, Tom Hemenway, an industrial designer and fabrication expert, Andrew Knoop, a programming specialist, and Kevin Bair, a junior mechanical systems engineer. The team will have additional assistance provided by consultants in mechanical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and computer science as required. Here is additional information about each team member:
Bryan McCoy obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2004. He has an Associates degree in Avionics Technology from Community College of the Air Force. He has been employed at ON Semiconductor for the past year as an Applications Engineer for motor controls and DC to DC converters. Prior to his employment at ON Semiconductor, he worked for Mobility Electronics specializing in AC to DC and DC to DC conversion and charging. In addition, he served four years in the Air Force as an F-16 Specialist, gaining experience with the avionics systems, navigation systems, and communication systems on the F-16 fighter jet.
Jason McCoy is a Tech. Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he performs Quality Assurance inspections on F-16 aircraft weapons systems. He specializes in fabrication, welding and motor building. His most recent project was a highly modified 2.4L KA24det built for the owner of Nico which is currently boosted to 380WHP. Ever inspired to learn fabricating processes he has a working foundry for casting Aluminum parts. He is also accomplished in lathe and mill work. He has twelve years experience in car modification, restoration, fabrication, and motor enhancement.
Greg Childs has worked in the mental health and law enforcement fields, and holds a BA in Psychology with a focus on research methodology from the University of Arizona.
